IN CAMERA - July 2019
Bucharest, 1989. Yhere are whispers of a party. In an apartment bloc on the east side of the city. If you know, you know. If you don’t know, well...now you do. But keep it to yourself. You never know who’s listening. You never know who might turn up uninvited… Set during the final year of Nicolae Ceausescu’s Communist regime in Romania, IN CAMERA is an immersive historical drama that explores the power of families, resistance, and the humble VHS tape.
IN CAMERA was produced by parts&labour productions, presented by Common Ground Arts Society and Found Festival 2019, supported by Theatre Yes, Alberta Playwrights’ Network, and the Citadel Theatre.
THE DROWNED
Winny has been dying a little every day since she was born. Her twin sister Toby has been too, though it’s not as obvious to most people. When Winny decides to take her death into her own hands, Toby is there to support her every step of the way. Toby needs to be strong, but when the source of her strength is fading quickly from her life, where will that leave her? Is she tough enough to go it alone?
The Drowned was the runner-up in the 2022 Write-on-Q competition, hosted by Infinithéâtre. It was workshopped and presented as a public reading in December 2022, directed by Krista Jackson and featuring Samantha Bitonti, Ryan Bommarito, Rebecca Gibian, and Espoir Segbeaya.
The Drowned, (under its previous title of 27/37) was also workshopped and presented as part of the Peep Show! play reading series at the 2018 SkirtsAfire festival. The reading was directed by Tracy Carroll and featured Jessy Ardern, Chris W. Cook, Carmen Nieuwenhuis, and Morgan Yamada.
